Details

As a relatively new business, we hope to generate a strong workplace culture for our employees to thrive and see opportunities for their development. Specifically, we would like to improve our employee retention by uncovering what influences employee decisions to stay (or not stay) on board with our company.

Tasks include:

  • Conducting research on current human resources and workforce trends to determine common reasons people are leaving their jobs today.
  • Brainstorm strategies to reduce turnover in the company based on the common reasons for turnover that were found in the research stage.
  • Decide on the best strategy based on its predicted effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and the logistics of putting the strategy into action.
  • Students will create a report detailing their research findings, as well as an implementation plan for each strategy they explored.
Deliverables

Created a report detailing;

  • The current factors why employees decide to leave their jobs, specifically in the laundromat industry
  • Well-researched approaches to improve employee retention
  • A proposed retention strategy accompanied by an implementation plan overview

Bonus steps would include:

  • Including competitor human resources information as part of the reasoning in the report and/or presentation.

Final deliverables should include

  • The report including all sections mentioned above.
  • Presentation slides in a shareable format.
  • A Zoom (Google Meet/Teams/etc) call for students to present their findings.
Mentorship

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

  • The general timeframe that solutions need to be implemented in.
  • The amount of resources being devoted to reducing turnover within the company.
  • Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter.
