Learners
Phase 1 – Project Plan: Organization representative(s) will present their project synopsys to participant groups to devise the project scope and prepare a detailed plan for completion of the project.
Phase 2 – Project Execution: Participants will work on the deliverables outlined in the project plan. Teams will periodically communicate with organization representative(s) as needed to complete project tasks.
Phase 3 - Outcome - Proposal and Presentation: A class of up to 22 will work on your solution, providing access to multiple solutions, based on numerous perspectives. You will receive at least four solution proposals and each group will conduct a 10-minute presentation, followed by a 5-minute Q&A covering:
- Cost benefit analysis.
- Project Charter.
- Risk Management plan.
- Business Impact analysis.
- Change management plan.
- Detailed requirements.
- Implementation plan.
- Quality management plan.

Project examples
Starting this June, a class of 22 IT professionals working in groups of 5 will spend up to 440 collective hours working to assist your organization with an IT project of your choice.
The participants working on your project are internationally-trained IT professionals with an average of 8 years of professional IT experience, all of whom have completed a Bachelor’s degree and approximately 50% of whom have completed a Master’s degree.
Participants are able to provide unique insights and ample value toward projects that focus on technology to gain business growth, customer experiences, workforce productivity, deploying solutions and services, efficiency and cost reduction, security and compliance.
Participants have experience in a variety of fields including, but not limited to:
- software development.
- solutions architecture.
- business development.
- quality assurance.
- change management.
- project management.
- business strategy.
- database administration.
After you present us with project specifications, participants will conduct research and collaboratively create project reports and project presentations. Live presentations and feedback sessions with participants and Project Sponsors are recommended.
Possible Projects include:
- Software development plan
- Software testing plan
- Technology selection and evaluation
- Feasibility studies and proof of concept for new products and services
- Work flow analysis and design including process improvement
- Business intelligence analysis and design
- IT solutions to capitalize on new revenue opportunities and grow your business
- Design and implementation of scalable business management system
- Make the best use of new technologies like cloud and mobile computing but search out additional ways to increase productivity
By attending our IT Connections program, participants build on their IT skills base through exposure to Agile and Project Management frameworks while they enhance their knowledge of the Canadian labor market.
